The Fonte Santa house is located in the upper part of Quinta da Fonte Santa, which took its name because it is located in the place of “Fonte Santa”, on the slopes of Vila Nova de Gaia, with its entrance at the top of Rua do Choupelo, 686.
This historic street, which in the 19th century served the flow of agricultural production from the Quintas de Vila Nova to the Douro River, is currently the access route to the highly regarded Hotel Yetman and the recently opened cultural space WOW – World of Wine!
Through this street, which skirts old farms and wine warehouses, passing by the Church of Santa Marinha – once a small Romanesque chapel, rebuilt in 1745 with a trace by Nicolau Nasoni – we arrive at the Douro riverside.
Some references to this farm maintain that it would be a vast agricultural property extending to the Douro River, which later would have been divided – the last one at the end of the 20th century with the expropriation for the construction of the Santa Marinha Public School – reaching our days with 9,620m2.
